Following a massive data exposure Google is not only shutting down Google+ but also has admitted that most people weren't using it anyway.

It appears that a bug in one of Google+'s People APIs allowed apps access to data from Google+ profiles that weren't marked as public. Private data such as name, email, occupation, gender and age were shared with third parties without users consent.

More worrying is that Google decided not to inform users about the bug when is was discovered and patched in March 2018. Whether GDPR regulators will be getting involed at this stage remains unclear. Watch this space.
